“Yes, I’m #TheRCBGirl But I’m So Much More Than That” Deepika Ghose Opens Up In Her New Post
Internet is a peculiar place. It has the potential to change many lives. A few days back, during one of the IPL matches, the internet found its new crush. A girl during RCB vs SRH match wowed the people. The girl was spotted cheering for her favorite team Royal Challengers Bangalore, and within no time, she became an Internet sensation gaining 100K+ followers overnight.
But the fame didn’t excite her. It, in fact, changed her life drastically. She took to Instagram to share the pain of unwanted fame.
She and her family have been attending the matches for years, and this time, they didn’t expect it to be any different. Since, she’s from Bangalore, cheering up and supporting the team has become a tradition for her family now.
“I am no celebrity, just an ordinary girl who was enjoying the match. I did nothing to warrant the kind of attention that ensued after the TV images appeared & I certainly did not seek it. “
Since she’s educated, who works as a stylist and often travels, she’s gotten the exposure of the world. So, being on TV doesn’t excite her. She doesn’t consider the overnight fame as an achievement. She’s just someone who’s proficient in her skills and loves to do the same.
But disturbed with the unwanted attention and the abuse, she wrote
“I am confused as to how people found my name/profile. My identity, privacy & life have been hacked in an instant. A lot of the overnight followers are men who have used this platform to be crude, vulgar, vicious & entirely disrespectful.”
But the thing that is revolting and has jolted her is the amount of hatred and abuse she’s received from many women. She added,
“How quick & cruel you have been to say mean things to & about me without even knowing me. I AM ONE OF YOU!”
Ever since she got the fame, people started asking Why should they follow her? To which, she wrote,
“Now that this has happened, I am going to turn this into something genuine, meaningful & fabulous.”
Though she ended the post on a positive note, it clearly reflects the pain she’s been going through. We always tend to judge people, and it becomes hard for us to digest someone’s success. However, she doesn’t consider this as an achievement, but the fact still remains the same – We always oppose the one who gets it.
Hope you turn the tables and make your account productive.
