It’s that time of the year where Indians get united and just cheer for the “Men in Blue.” It’s the world cup season, the Cricket-fever is on and everyone’s waiting for the much-awaited match of the season, the match between Indian and Pakistan. But, the season also brings some “healthy-sledging.” Players get engaged in verbal intimidation to distract the opponent’s concentration.
But not every moment talks about “sledging.” Some players, on the field, redefine the benevolence. And Virat Kohli is one of such players. He has once again proved that he is a true champion of the game with his kind gesture.
In case you’ve forgotten, Steve Smith and David Warner served a 12-month ban for their involvement in the ball-tampering scandal last year.
In yesterday’s match, Smith was booed with chants of ‘cheater-cheater’ when he was fielding at the third man near the Vauxhall end by the Indian crowd.
But Indian skipper was quick to notice this and immediately turned to that stand and gestured to the Indian crowd to stop booing Steve Smith and cheer for him instead.
Twitter is flooded with the praise and netizens are applauding the ‘sportsmanship’ of the skipper.
The wifey’s also wowed with hubby’s gesture and took to Instagram to share a snippet of the same.
Not just the game, the skipper also won the hearts.
