Mob Lynching has become an everyday thing in India. Not a single day goes where you won’t find a piece of news about the ‘lynching.’ And as we speak, Jharkhand witnesses a heinous incident of lynching.

According to the sources, a 24-year-old man, Tabrej Ansari, was allegedly lynched for more than 15 hours by a mob on suspicion of theft, and then handed over to the Police.

Several videos of him started surfacing on the Internet where he was seen tied to an electric pole and was forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Jai Hanuman.’

During the custody, the man complained of poor health and was taken to a local hospital on 22nd where he succumbed to his injuries.

Speaking to Indian Express, Tabrej’s Uncle denies the claims as the victim never had any criminal record and says,

“Let us assume he was caught for theft, but tying him up and beating him for hours and then asking him to chant Jai Shri Ram is shocking. His mistake was that he was a Muslim, otherwise he would have been alive.”

He also claimed that Tabrej was alive even after his death’s declaration. The ECG report found him alive and he was shifted to Tata Main Hospital where he was declared dead.

According to the reports, an arrest has been made and Pappu Mandal has been charged with murder, inciting communal hatred and persuading a mob to attack Tabrej.

“We are investigating the matter. The exact cause of death can only be ascertained after we get the autopsy report,” said the SP.

The victim used to work in Pune as a laborer and had come to his village to commemorate Eid with his family. His family had also arranged his wedding during his visit.

This killing again raises a few questions. Even if he stole the bike,

Who has given the right to the mob to take someone’s life?
Why wasn’t he handed over to the Police immediately?
Who deserves to be killed like this?
Who deserves to be lynched?

It’s high time we stopped taking crimes in our hands. It’s time to become humans.
